01 - In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, brown sugar or honey, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla extract, and black pepper. Whisk gently until steaming hot but do not allow to boil.
02 - Prepare strong brewed coffee or espresso and divide it evenly between two mugs.
03 - Froth the heated spiced milk using a milk frother, whisk, or by shaking vigorously in a heatproof jar until foam is formed.
04 - Pour the spiced milk over the coffee in each mug, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
05 - Top with whipped cream and a dusting of ground cinnamon or nutmeg if desired. Serve immediately.
